Talmage minus those dumb tonsils!

Talmage went in at 7:00 this morning to have
his tonsils that were always swollen
OUT! (cheers)
Jared even got to be in his surgery with him!
(Residency perks?)
Pre-surgery
He was as happy as a boy could be
After...not happy!
My Poor Little Lamb!
Waking up was very painful
Until that Morphine took affect.
It made me queasy just watching him wake up
Good thing Jared's the Doc!
 I had to sit down (wimpy Mom)
It is heart breaking to watch your sweet boy be in a lot of pain.
What a relieving feeling to
watch the medicine calm him down from sobbing to
peacefully sleeping.
"Hop" the bunny even got to go into surgery with him

Pain medicine and Popsicles to the rescue!

Thoughts...

Talmage has had a long standing adoration for bunnies!
We thought it might pass
It has not
He only loves them more
He tells people...
"My Mom won't let me get one...when I grow up,  then I will get one."
Am I robbing him of a childhood love?
Of  his greatest fascination?
Of fun memories?

We have "bunnies"  all over our desert land here!
In the summer instead of being worried of hitting a Deer, you worry about all the little bunnies
that sit along side the roads.
Rodents?
Pet's?

Talmage is the best at doing his chores!
Would he keep up with keeping one?

They grow!
(Dwarf bunnies can stay smaller.)

baby hedgehog

This Hedgehog is adorable too.  You don't have it as a pet though.

We are considering the possibility.

I am a push over!

This is Jonah.
I have been telling Jared about his many requests of things to
eat all by 10:00 A.M.!
He picks at it and says "I don't like it"
He promises to eat the next request...I give in...he cries "I don't like it!"
He moved from left to right...to the spot he finally was in.
First, he wanted a ham and cheese sandwich, then a hot dog in a bun cut up...all fails!
Then, after sobbing, pleading and crying about how hungry he was, I GAVE IN!
How could I send him to pre-school hungry?!!!
SHAME ON ME!  I know. I know.
One day I will miss having him request three different meals by 8:30 in the morning.
One day

Dinner! You gotta try this recipe!

recipe from annie-eats.com
Pinterest version in the above picture!

My version below (this picture definitely not pretty enough to make it onto pinterest.)
I think that my Jared is actually tiring of the hospital's food.
While I was gone he even ordered a Papa John's pizza.
My most frugal husband
ordered out!
When he could eat free at the hospital!
Sweet guy.

I made this Pasta for him last night.
I also added grilled chicken (not seen in picture)

I do not own a food processor.
So my easy- save a lot of steps version
is to buy pre made pesto!
I also had the Produce Guy walk me through a few isles to find bottled grilled red peppers!
Finally found them in the pickle section!
They were amazing!!!
Loved the smell that permeated my house
My kitchen smelled like I was a gourmet restaurant!

I have a fun little blender
I poured
 ~ one jar of red roasted peppers
~One jar of pesto
into my blender and pushed start.
Wa laa!

Boil pasta. Drain.
Pour pasta into pan and
mix with sauce until heated through!
I love cheese
Add parmesean

 Next time I might choose angel hair pasta (Jared's Fav)

Jared said "that is on the make again list"
Need I say more?

Re- entry...

Doesn't NASA term the act of the Space Shuttle and  the Astronauts coming back to earth "Re-entry"?
I have to say I wonder if Kingman is on the Planet Earth?
Regardless of what Planet my family is living on,
we have safely re-entered  Kingman.
It is always an adjustment

Vacations are always so nice!

Jared worked his tail off and did eight call nights while we were gone.
He is doing OB this month.

My Sister Stacy and I spent Friday at the Church History Museum with our youngest kids.
I ran after President Uchtdorf and his security
to asked if my boys could meet him.
Previously Talmage had found a picture of President Uchtdorf and framed it all by himself.
So, my boys have a picture of him in their room.
He could not have been nicer!
He gave the boy's high five!

Press here to read my favorite talk he gave.

We came home a bunch of sickie's!
Jonah somehow got Hand Foot and Mouth Disease in Salt Lake!
Jake has a gross cough
I picked the boys up from school yesterday and Talmage looked awful!
He threw up all night last night.
I have an awesome head cold in my EARS...everything sounds really annoying.
Glad we have nice beds to rest in!

Details

This is the door at Details.  Another favorite shop here in Salt Lake (Sugar House)
I dream of Becky, the owner, helping me decorate my entire house one day...
Look at some of the beds in the store!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday we went with Grandma Marv, my brother Ryan, his dreamy wife Leanna
and her brother Josh  to Incredible Pizza!
We were there for over four hours!
My brother stayed even longer!
We had a BLAST!
Jake was way more thrilled than he looks
I am sad that all my pictures are so blurry
Jake and Alex to the side.
Ryan in the blue
Leanna in the white
Ryan and Josh getting ready to rumble against Alex!  Ha!
(This was the best picture I got of that);(
Hello...please come home with me!
Yesterday I went to one of my favorite shops here in Salt Lake.
Paisley Pomegranate
I fell in love with this couch!
The pillows were pretty amazing too.
Just one of them was $110.00.
 For now I'll just stare at my picture.
We are in Salt Lake City!
We watched a 3 D Movie here last night at my Parents.
My Nephew Skylar and his cutest bride! (wedding luncheon)
My Niece Ashley.  Her hair for the wedding.
My Jonah and my Niece Elyse  at the reception.
Yesterday Stacy and I took our kids to a place in Draper called Airborne!
LOVED it!
Murphy.  My Parent's dog.  They got him from a lady that I know in Kingman.
He is a crack up.  He is finally potty trained too!
There still is a lot more fun to be had!  I wish my Jared were here though.
Mirrors Mirrors on my wall...
I collect four things.
Mirrors
Milk Glass
Cake plates
Heart Rocks
Each one of these collections I adore.
I was looking at the huge box in my laundry room holding all the boy's school masterpieces
from the past seven months.
 I cannot part with a lot their school work!
If I keep it up,  I will have A LOT of boxes!!!
I have been "Spring Cleaning"
Each picture or spelling test seems significant!
Pretty ridiculous.
I imagine myself with my children gone one day. With only their past school work to keep me company.
(wipe a tear)
Think I need to bring My Dad over!  He just throws it away.
It all looks so clean and pretty in his
garage and house!
Wish me luck....
I came across the picture above.
I made it last night.
Jared is a bit of a food critic.
He LOVED it!
For My Mother- In-Law...
Dear Grandma Carol,
 This is for you!!!!!  I wish this for your house. Just off your kitchen. Do you love it?!
It is so you.  Your back yard picnics are some of the families most treasured memories.  This room could host all your amazing platters and goblets and dishes.
                                                                                                     All of my love!
                                                                                                               Lis
Our House...
Talmage brought this home from school yesterday.
 I loved listening to him tell me all about it.
He wrote:
I live in a house.
 I live with my family.  It is
 a nice place to live
 because it is not dangerous.  It is safe.
Sweet boy.  He was so proud to show his brothers his drawings of them.  He said " look Mom, I even drew you a rainbow shirt!  Do you love it?!"
Jonah took one look at himself in the drawing, and burst into screaming tears!
He did NOT want to look how Talmage had drawn him.
 I thought he was pretty lucky.  He got to be looking out a window.
It broke Talmage's heart!
 Talmage broke into huge shooting tears. When he cries his tears shoot from his eyes.
He was devastated that Jonah thought he was a bad artist.
So, I had two hysterical boys over this picture.
My sweet Jake came out from his room to inform Talmage that" he was a great artist!"
  I finally spoke some sense into Jonah too.
At least our house is safe!
Poor little lamb
Our house also smelled delicious from the Blonde Bombshell Bars
 I made for a little lunch I went to.
ALL the boys LOVED them!
Unfortunately so did I.
Try them out!
Blonde Bombshell bars
Grace even wrote:
We love to avoid trans fats,
but the combination of butter and margarine in this recipe
really produces the best results.
 Either way, they are to die for!
I second that motion!!
I left the coconut out because we are not fans.
1/2 cup butter & 1/2 cup margarine
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup toffee bits
1 2/3 cups white chocolate chips
1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
Cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in eggs and vanilla,
then add dry ingredients.  Mix until well combined, then add toffee bits, chips and coconut.
Spread into greased 9x13 baking dish and bake at 325 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes (top will brown quickly but be patient and let the inside bake) They will sink a little after cooling.
